AK5367 - Audio ADC with ground-referenced input selector |
| San Jose, CA February 13 2008 - AKM Semiconductor (AKM), the world’s premier supplier of audio ICs for professional and consumer markets, today launched the AK5367, an audio ADC with a ground-referenced input selector, making it ideal for consumer audio applications including set-top boxes, digital televisions, DVD players/recorders and A/V receivers. The high integration level greatly reduces external component requirements, simplifying system design and reducing cost. It is the newest member of the Audio4homeTM product family.
The AK5367 has an integrated charge pump, which supplies the negative rail for the input selector. Since the input selector operates off of a dual-rail supply, the input signal is ground-referenced, eliminating the need for ac-coupling capacitors. This enables an 80% reduction in circuit area and external components, compared with traditional ac-coupled audio ADC’s. The input selector has four stereo inputs, allowing it to switch between various audio sources, and an input pre-amplifier supports signal levels of 2Vms and 4Vms using external resistors. The AK5367 supports audio sampling rates from 32kHz to 96kHz. The audio interface supports both Master mode and Slave mode, while the serial control interface operates on an I²C bus. The nominal operating voltage for the analog power supply is +5V, and +3.3V for the digital power supply. The AK5367 is available in a space-saving 30-pin VSOP package.
