AK7770 - Audio DSP with 2-in, 6-out CODEC and sampling rate converter |
| San Jose, CA March 26 2008 - AKM Semiconductor (AKM), the world’s premier supplier of audio ICs for professional and consumer markets, today launched the AK7770, an audio DSP featuring integrated two 24-bit stereo ADC’s, three 24-bit stereo DAC’s and two stereo sample rate converters (SRC). It is ideal for DTV sound processing for Dual Screen applications. The AK7770 supports a wide range of analog and digital audio signal sources for TV sound processing, including a 4-channel stereo input selector for line-input and two sample rate converters (SRC’s). The built-in SRC’s allow the DSP to operate in master mode only, eliminating complex switching procedures between master and slave mode.
The DSP processing speed is 1536 steps, sampling at 48kHz. 14k-words of delay memory are available for surround-sound effects and lip-synching. In addition, the RAM program area is freely programmable for user applications. For SRS licensed users, programs such as WOW HD can be provided. Users can create their own applications by combining this standard program with the original algorithm. Because the two stereo ADC’s with input selector can receive different audio signals respectively, different sound sources can be selected for the main screen speaker outputs or a sub screen headphone output. The AK7770 also has two SRC’s for digital sound inputs that can support two different sampling rate frequency signals for two screens. The DAC has 6-channels, which supports 5.1 channel surround sound output. The dynamic range is 96dB for the ADC and 100dB for the DAC, achieving high performance audio playback for HDTV broadcasting. The AK7770 has a serial audio interface with three input and four output ports for interfacing to other audio devices. The AK7770 is capable of supporting input signals from external digital equipment. The signal outputs are provided to an external class-D amplifier supporting MSB, LSB and I²S audio formats. Serial control is handled through the I²C-bus. The operating voltage ranges from 1.7V to 1.9V for the digital block and 2.7V to 3.6V for the analog and interface blocks. Evaluation boards and samples are available now.
